We are excited to announce the launch of Group 64’s Playwriting Competition in collaboration with Theatre503 as part of the London Borough of Culture and the Uplift Festival.
We want to hear stories from as many young people in the London Borough of Wandsworth as possible. You don’t need any experience! We want to hear what you have to say!

We are running three workshops that are completely free to attend to give you all the help and advice you will need! You can attend one, two or all of these workshops.
You can still submit a play even if you can’t attend the workshop.

Closing Date for Scripts: 8th September
Finalists announced: 14th October
Finalist plays rehearsed week of the 27th October
Performances of the winning plays and scenes 20th, 21st, 22nd November
The winners will be given the opportunity to direct their own plays, with support for the Group 64 staff, but we’ve got directors standing by if you’d rather see someone else’s approach to your writing.

TOP TIPS
Please write a play for 2-6 characters
We will be performing the winning plays on stage at Putney Arts Theatre with a very limited set, props and costumes, so make sure your play is adaptable for this.
1 page of A4 usually lasts 1 minute on the stage.

The play must be original and unpublished.
The text must be suitable for an audience of 14+ year olds.
The winners will be decided by the team at Theatre503

The Uplift Festival is a Theatre Festival for Young People
All performances in the festival will be based on the theme of young people lifting each other up, celebrating each other, and the uplifting of young people’s voices.
Your play can be about anything! However we would love to see plays that represent the voices of young people in the borough of Wandsworth.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any young person 14-19 who lives or goes to school or college in the London Borough of Wandsworth
WHERE TO START?
The plays will be performed as part of the Uplift Festival.

All performances in the festival will be based on the theme of young people lifting each other up, celebrating each other, and the uplifting of young people’s voices.
